Relying on the use of existing site plans of underground services is often inaccurate or out of date. Failure to establish the accurate position of a buried service or other potential hazard is not only costly, but has serious health and safety implications. Utilitech can carry out a comprehensive scan of a specific area identifying the precise location and depth of utilities. A site markout survey is ideal for the client who does not require mapping services. This method is also cost-effective and safer compared with traditional excavation methods.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have published a revised document on avoiding danger from underground services. HSG47, this states a full scan must be completed before breaking of the ground commences.
Site markouts can be carried out to include or exclude the location of plastic utilities, Utilitech use cable location instruments (electromagnetic) and / or ground penetrating radar (GPR), where appropriate, to accurately pinpoint underground utilities.
